SoLag is for South Laguna
Founder, Paulo Prietto created SoLag Skim School in 2004 while competing on the professional tour. South Laguna is the best place in the world to skimboard. It's considered the "North Shore" for skimboarding. Paulo reached the top in the professional tour three consecutive years in a row and is regarded as one of the best skimboarders of all time. He is even featured in the Newport Beach Nautical Museum. Check out the video below of him in action.
While attending Chapman University, Paulo was studying to become an elementary school teacher. While obtaining his degree, Paulo decided to combine his passion for skimboarding with his formal education and BOOM... SoLag Skim School was born. Since then, Paulo and his staff have taught countless people how to skimboard. He has taught internationally including Mexico and Taiwan. Paulo created a learn to skim DVD called Sessions back when DVDs were a thing. He serves on the Board of Directors for the United Skim Tour.

Our lessons and camps take place in beautiful Laguna Beach, California. Private lessons are available all year long. Camps are during the summer months.
What is Skimboarding?
Skimboarding is a board sport that takes place on the shoreline. Skimboarders ride a board that doesn't have any fins on the bottom allowing it to glide eforrtlessly on the wet sand and water. Skimboarders ride shorebreak (waves that break close to the shoreline) and Laguna Beach has some of the best waves in the world.
